Both providers run your Google Tag Manager server container for you, so the container itself is not the difference. The pricing model, the request allowance, the regions and what a plan unlocks are.

List prices only, VAT excluded, no currency conversion applied: Stape bills in USD and we bill in EUR. Request counting is similar but not identical between providers. Both count incoming hits to the server container, including script loads such as gtm.js and gtag.js, and neither counts the outgoing calls your tags make. Take your real monthly number from your current dashboard before you compare.
When Stape is the better choice
There are cases where we are not the right answer. Better you read them here than find out after you have moved.
You want more than hosting
Stape sells a wide catalogue around the container: Conversions API gateways for Meta, TikTok and Snapchat, a large template library, a tracking checker and a setup assistant. We do one thing, managed sGTM hosting. If you want those extras inside one account, that is a fair reason to pick them.
You need regions outside Europe
We host in the EU only, in Madrid and Amsterdam, because that is what our customers ask us for. If you need a footprint in the US, in Asia or anywhere else, Stape offers regions that we simply do not have.
Your traffic is small and stays small
Their free plan covers up to 10K requests a month, and Pro covers 500K for $17. At that size the gap with our €15 is noise. Pick on the features you need, not on the invoice.
Where we do win is the middle and the top of the range: one flat container price with 10 million requests included, no feature locked behind a tier, and EU only hosting. If that is the setup you are running, the numbers above speak for themselves.
Moving a container takes minutes
Your configuration lives in Google Tag Manager, not with your host. Moving it means pointing the same container somewhere else.
Create the container
Paste your GTM server Container Config into the Tracking Hippo console. It is the same config you already use today.
Point the CNAME
Move the DNS record for your tagging subdomain, for example sgtm.yourdomain.com, to your new container.
Verify, then switch
Check that events arrive, then update the server URL in GTM. Your web container and your tags stay untouched.
Already reading Stape's header names?
If your Request Header variables read X-Stape-User-Id or X-GEO-PostalCode, the Migration Headers module delivers those names alongside ours on every request. Every variable keeps resolving on the day you move. Repoint them later, at your own pace.
No lock-in either way. Because the configuration stays in Google Tag Manager, moving back is the same three steps in reverse.
